Articles: Etang Deux Pierres - France

I was having had a chat with Ray from Ashford Tackle. He had heard of a venue in France that had just stocked its lake with a whole new head of carp, and the original old stock still remained too!

So I was on the phone and booked the venue for 8 guests from the 12th to 19th April 2008. With the ferry booked and van loaded we were on our way to the venue . Only a 4 hour drive to the fishery. We got to the venue about 1.15pm and Graham was on site to meet us all there. All the guys picked swims leaving me the beach swim as I was head cook for the week! My first fish was a common at 20lb+ nice start, then a 26.5lb getting bigger! Come Tuesday it was raining all day and know fished showed until the rain stopped. The fish were then crashing all over the lake. Evening came round and the fish where still crashing all over. At about 2.30am I had a drop back on my middle rod. Twenty minutes later it was in the net and hit the scales at 36.4. I did not want to sack the fish so I got my mobile and gave Steve a ring so he wound come round to my swim and take a picture for me. We then returned the fish. In total I had 7 fish from 20lb up to 36.4lb. Etang Deux Pierres will be on my list each year as th fish will gain weight over the years and they are stunning looking fish. Graham has hand picked his fish well to stock his fishery and I look forward to my return trip next year or if not sooner!

Wednesday was hot, nothing showing. Evening came, the sky was clear we had two good frosts that seem to have put the fish down at night. The wind was all over the place and the fish were following it. Brian was fishing swim 5 all on his own and the wind was in is direction the fish where crashing all along his tree line. Brian had 19 carp up to 51lbs, well done mate!

Bob and Clive were fishing swims 6 and 7 on the roadside. Bob had a 40lb mirror and a 41lb mirror and was well pleased!

Ray and Max were fishing swim 9. Both of them had a hard weeks fishing. They lost fish between them but still had fish on the bank Ray had a 28.5lb, and 2 fish at 26lb and a 19lb. Max had a 21.6lb, 25.8lb and a 30lb common.

Steve and Malcolm were fishing swims 2 and 3. Malcolm had 9 fish from 25lb to 31lb the largest was a common. Steve had 7 fish from 15lb to 25lb.

Etang Duex Pierres is a venue to take a look at if you are planning a trip to France!

Thanks to Graham and Jane for there help with the booking of the venue and a big thanks to Ray, Max, Bob, Clive, Steve, Malcolm and Brian.
